The largest airport serving Christchurch, New Zealand, is Christchurch Airport. It is situated in the suburb of Harewood, 12 kilometers northwest of the city center.
Getting to your destination from the airport is easy, with taxis and shuttle service at the door. It takes about 15-20 minutes to drive down to the city center from the airport. The taxi rank is located outside of International Arrivals (exit via Door 7). Prices vary by company and we encourage you to ask for an approximate cost before you start your journey. Your taxi will be paid $5.50 for collection
International flights fly directly from and to four Australian destinations-Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne, with direct summer flights from and to Perth. Flights to and from China (Guangzhou), Fiji and Singapore are also regularly run.
Using Metro Red Bus public transit services, you can get from the airport to the center of town and heaps of other locations across Christchurch. Busses depart from the International Arrivals north end, next to the Novotel hotel (exit via Door 9).

Our array of thematic air bridges is one of the many items that set our airport apart. Comfort and health are important if your trip is to be as fun as possible. Here are a couple of ways we advise travelers to take care of their health while at the airport.
Any items lost and discovered inside the airport terminal are stored with our Airport Services team. Contact them to ask if they got your item missing.
Many taxi services are available like Uber, and rates can differ. To meet the service requirements of the airport company, a rental car guide and also operate from the airport are required. When you are traveling by taxi to the airport, make sure that you have plenty of time available.
